A representative of the San Antonio Express-News just posed a very interesting question to Moroney. It involved a hypothetical regarding the Final Four, held in San Antonio this weekend.

“Do you send people down there and spend the money, or do you concentrate on your hyper-local efforts still?”

Moroney held fast to his local beliefs.

“We’ll send our columnists and experts down there, yes,” Moroney said. “We don’t need the game summary, we don’t need the pictures, we can get those from somewhere else.”

This is a big example of Moroney’s view that news and information businesses need less who, what, when and where and more why.
