Apologies for the lapse in posting, I had to attend a class.

Here are some highlights from Jim Lenahan, Strategic Development Manager for Gannett Newspapers:

– “We’re going niche, moving the two-way communication between the media and its users to a polylogue, that’s where the magic happens.”

-“You can try to build communities in a purely amateur way, you see that on a lot of sites, but usually you have to get professionals involved, and that’s what we offer.”

-“You have a journalist at the top, a professional who is moderating content. There are generators who are generating content around that content. From that you get a certain number of responders, then it’s all readers after that.”

-“We’re taking communities and building them around important topics.”

-“We’re going to deliver information directly to you in your household. It’s hyper-local.”

Better coverage to begin again with the next speaker.
